Videos, photos and information on the reconstruction of a 9th-century Arab ship, and its historic voyage from Oman to Singapore.
The crew reported a sense of the earth rolling when they got to land. This tended to be worst when they were lying in bed in the dark in their hotel and the room would sway like the ship. After a few days this rolling sensation wears off.
One other effect of being at sea on a small boat for a while was that the crew found walking very tiring at first. They hadn't walked more than two or three steps at a time on the boat before you have to stop and climb over a beam or a mast. It took a few days to get their land legs working again!
Crew member, Alessandro Ghidoni, reported a slightly different experience:
"Walking on land after so long was great. I expected to feel "landsick", but it didn't happen. I'd been thinking about the moment we reach Cochin for the last week prior to arriving. It was very hot and humid and I was dreaming about a proper shower. Food was also wonderful after a month of the same diet (mostly rice). But I can't really complain about the food; I realized that some members of the crew were really good at cooking."
